Linux version 2.4, 2.6 and 3.0 – for System Developers

In this book, we define various modification and improvement of kernel scheduling, synchronization among the Linux versions v2.4, v2.6 and v3.0. Also, this book introduces newly added or changes several concept regarding virtual file systems and system calls among various kernel versions. This book aims to fill some of the gap between operating system algorithms and practical coding principles and implementation of Linux kernel, across various versions. Also, it is worth mentioning that there are no well defined versioning control systems with change logs for open source distributions like the Linux kernel. This book tried to cover up mainly all area of process scheduling, kernel synchronization, file system specific code and various system calls. This book may serve as a well documented change log across different kernel versions, namely v2.4, v2.6 and v3.0. This book may be helpful to researchers and system developers including security analysts and auditors, as a single point of reference.
