Finding The Downs [Srijita Pal]

In her mid-twenties, for the first time in life, Reeta flies off her nest and finds herself in the foreign faraway land of England. She begins a new life there, in the foot of the countryside hills and finds an explorer in herself. The rolling hills of the South Downs extend all along the southern edge of the island from east to west. She begins to discover the magic of nature up on those hills and along with that, all the associated myths and stories and funny anecdotes of the place. Sometimes, she discovers a bluebell field with a mystic hue; sometimes, she chuckles at the windmills; another time, she finds herself going back in time to the 7th century and sometimes, she simply paints colour on her imaginary musings.

Reeta makes a friend there, with whom she keeps exploring the many folds of the South Downs in the English countryside. And in that process, slowly and subtly, she starts to fall in love with the beauty and the quirks of the hills and the friend alike.
