Priya and her husband, Ravi Gupta, are immigrants from India. They live in Houston in their house, No.7, mindful of its moral code and the previous owner’s warning, “Take care, the house is special.” Life is more-than-perfect until Priya’s dead friend, Hema’s book arrives at their door. It not only triggers memories of the uncanny circumstances surrounding Hema’s death, but the old charcoal sketches in it stain Priya’s fingers. The marks grow ominously dark. Spooked, Priya shoves the book under her bed where it disappears. Could the floor have sucked it in? Odd yet not improbable—both the house and the book are magical—but with what consequences?

Nandita Banerjee, a lover of English literature, is the talented mind behind the novel “No. 7: They are Calling”.
[...]Personally, when I choose a book, the first thing I do is look at the author’s writing style and how he or she uses the vocabulary, words, and sentences to describe each scenario and setting. I dare to say that in my opinion, these are vital components of a good story. In this particular piece of work, the writer was able to catch my attention by the way she had structured the novel. I love a well-written book, like this one, which I can read and visualize at the same time.
The main characters of the story are Priya and Ravi Gupta, a couple who recently arrived in Houston. The house where they moved to is very “special”, and soon they started to live mysterious events and dark situations; apparently, everything is possible in that place!
The novel is 307 pages long, with an absorbing plot that is developed throughout its chapters.
Take my advice and give this book a try!
